Be Creative In Your Garden

When you want to create a unique or original garden design, you’ll need to get a bit creative first. Being creative with where you’ll plant your garden is also quite helpful when you only have small spaces to work with too.

Here are several creative garden spot ideas for you…

1. If you have a fence around all or part of your yard, plant a fence garden. For fences that are at least five feet tall, plant flower vines which will climb and cover the fence without taking up much yard space for instance. This is an excellent way to mask or hide plain old boring chain link fencing.

If you have a bit more room, or your fence is somewhat short like a yard border or decorative fencing, then climbing vines may grow too large for it over time. Some types of vines can still be planted though, as long as you choose varieties which don’t climb too high. Alternatively you can plant vines of any type, and simply space them farther apart. Then as they’re growing, train them to follow along the top of the fence once they reach that height and have no other upward areas to grow in to.

2. Create a living fence garden. If you don’t have an existing fence and no room or desire to plant hedges and large bushes, try creating a living flower garden instead. A sunflower garden is a popular option for instance, because some types of sunflowers will grow more than five feet tall at full maturity, and sunflowers seem to make everyone feel more cheerful and smile more too.

If sunflowers aren’t to your taste, then try various types of ornamental grasses. Even flowers which reach eighteen inches or higher at maturity will make wonderful informal border fences for your yard.

3. Find some unusual containers. Using unique, original, or antique containers for garden spots around your yard creates a wonderful carefree, natural feel to your entire home.

If you love antiques for instance, then try to find an antique claw foot bathtub, then place it in your yard and plant it full of colorful flowers. Old children’s toys such as a tricycle or wagon also make beautiful garden containers, as do old fashioned iron wash tubs, old wagon wheels, teapots, and even old cast iron wood stoves too.
