The Iris ‘Mixed Colors’, ‘Iris bearded’, a fall planted bulb, are iris bulbs in mixed colors that are excellent for cutting. The colors run from light blue, purple to yellow and white. These Iris are easy to grow and thrive in moist, well-draining soil. This Iris blooms in mid spring for a 2 – 3 week period. Plant bearded Iris bulbs in 10 to 14 day intervals to enjoy a continuous supply of cut flowers. For a more striking effect, plant the bulbs in groups of 20 or more. In cold areas the Iris should be mulched in winter to protect from frost. The Iris plant is great for borders, containers, naturalizing, and cut flowers. They are deer, rabbit and squirrel resistant.

Morden Centennial, Rosa ‘Morden Centennial’, is a Parkland Series rose that flowers all season with especially profuse flushes of rich pink flowers from beginning to end. The lightly scented blooms appear in clusters among healthy, disease resistant foliage before being replaced by persistent red hips. While reliably hardy in zone 3, some success has been reported in zone 2. Own root. Morden Centennial grows to three feet, and has a habit that is upright and bushy. The medium glossy leaves typically have seven leaflets, and its resistance to mildew is very good. It was honored with the Canadian Rose Society’s Outstanding Cultivar Award in 1986.

A deciduous shrub, not a tree, the Tree Peony has woody stems. A mature shrub produces dozens of huge, long-lasting, silken blooms which delight the eye. Tree Peonies prefer evenly moist, well-drained soil with a pH close to neutral. If your soil is extremely acid, add some lime when planting. Remove deadwood after the plants leaf out in spring and remove spent flowers. Tree Peonies usually take 2 – 3 years to become established and bloom heavily.
